Not only do people donate pull-tabs, they also have fun while doing it. Remember the pull-tab Flapper dress?!
Tab Chain Attempt For The Guinness Book of World Records
Leo Soucy started collecting pull-tabs as a hobby and in 2008 started creating his tab chain. His goal was ever changing. At first it was to make a length a quarter of a mile long, that, of course had changed several times.
The chain grew to 3,345 feet long, which equals 281,638 tabs. At over a half mile long it is longer than the tallest building in the world, which is Burj Khalifa in Dubi at 2,717 feet. It should be noted that each link has five tabs (making them 5-tabs thick) and there are 17 links to each foot.
Leo took pride in his hobby and had no help in cutting, trimming and connecting each tab. He also kept a continuous record of the progress he made over the 11 years he worked on it.
Leo went home to the Lord in 2022 and his family donated the spool of tabs to the Aleppo Shriners in his memory.
