Swing Band
The Shriners Swing Band is a seventeen piece “Big Band” comprised of five Saxophones, four Trumpets, four Trombones, Bass, Guitar, Drums, Piano and vocalist.
The Swing Band was formed in 1973, the sole purpose was to raise money for Burnt and Crippled Children at the Shriner Burns Hospital.
None of the talented musicians receive any monetary compensation. The Musicians gratification comes from raising funds for the children’s care and from the joy on people’s faces listening and dancing to their performances. All proceeds from their performances are donated to transport burn victims and their families to the nearest Shrine Hospital and for patient care.
The band consists of 5 saxaphones,4 trombones, 4 trumpets, and a complete rhythm section. In addition we have vocalists.
The band performs in the style of the Big Band Era. We have an extensive library with charts from Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Harry James and Count Basie to name a few. Our vocalists has a unique style which complements the Big Band. In addition to our Big Band Era selections we also compliment the band with many contemporary tunes.
