On Friday, September 18, 2020 Nobles Carl Ohlson and Roger Metcalfe travelled to the Italian American World War Veterans of the U.S. – Post #40 in Milford, Massachusetts.
The Post’s purpose and objective is to aid and assist veterans and their families; assist public/private agencies; foster, encourage, and promote social, civic, historical, athletic, patriotic, musical and scientific activities and affairs; promote patriotism, advance the civic welfare, encourage benevolence, stimulate charity, champion the cause of education; and encourage and develop in all people a spirit of good will, fellowship, and understanding as a guard against future wars and chaos.
True to their purpose and objective, our visit was to receive from the Post a large quantity of aluminum pull tabs for the Aleppo Shriners Children’s Transportation Fund.
On arrival, they were greeted by Tricia and Tim McDonough – a former State Post Commander, full Veteran member, and currently serving as the Chaplin and OD.
The tabs being donated have been collected from members, friends, the Post and its employees over the past three to four years; and there was a total of 371 pounds to be exact.
Along with Tim and Tricia, members Rick Naughton (employee, member, and volunteer) and Jim Calagione (employee, member, and volunteer) were present to make the donation to Aleppo.
Also in attendance at the presentation were town officials from Milford – Thomas O’Laughlin, Selectman; Charles Boddy, Town Counsel; and Chris George, IT Director.
Other large contributors of tabs to the Post were Mike Holland of Roslindale; Matt Wilson of Milford; Terry Yost of Milford; the Bellingham School; Milford Girl Scouts; and Christiano Santos of Milford.
Aleppo Shriners thanks the ITAM Post #40 for their support in collecting and donating the tabs, which provide needed funds for Aleppo to support our Hospitals in the treatment of our children. Our warmest regards to you all for this generous donation.
