Year after year, the Northeast Clown Institute (NCI) brings together clowns, magicians, jugglers, and entertainers of all kinds for a weekend filled with education, laughter, and fun for the whole family. With over 30 years of experience, NCI has established itself as the National leading provider of professional clown education, offering a comprehensive curriculum taught by seasoned instructors.
The Aleppo Clown Unit had over 35 Clowns in attendance. One of the highlight of this year’s event was the presence of the Simmons family, Shriner Clowns and part of the Aleppo Clown Unit. These Clowns are known as Mugsy, Sunshyne, and Pip-Squeak from the from Wilmington, MA Shrine Center. this family embodies the joy of clowning and community engagement, delighting audiences wherever they go.
First-year NCI student Kristie “Picture Perfect” DeCola, a member of the Shriners Clown Unit Lady Clowns, is a shining example of the transformative power of clown education. With over two years of experience under her belt, Kristie’s journey at NCI has led her to discover a new approach to her clown persona—one that embraces simplicity and child-friendly aesthetics. Kristie’s evolution from a pie-in-the-face enthusiast to a refined and approachable clown reflects the ethos of NCI: empowering individuals to find their unique voice in the world of entertainment.
But NCI Weekend isn’t just about honing skills—it’s also about building connections and fostering a sense of community among fellow performers. From makeup, skit and costume competitions to networking opportunities with industry vendors, attendees had the chance to connect with like-minded enthusiasts and professionals.
Moreover, NCI remains committed to accessibility, ensuring that tuition costs remain affordable for all aspiring clowns. As a non-profit educational organization, NCI strives to provide a welcoming space for individuals of all backgrounds to develop and improve their clowning skills.
