We are hot and heavy with shows; year after year they seem to get a little harder and a little tougher on the men. Don’t get me wrong, these men are the toughest there is. And especially, the three day shows present a problem with manpower, where people have to work their regular jobs. Of course Chief Nepo greatly appreciates the work all our officers do.
I don’t know if anyone knows of a special unit within the Provost Guard, you heard of Triple A. Well, we have Quadruple A. When we hear of someone’s dead battery or someone locked out of their car our AAAA goes to work. Of course, I’m talking about Capt. J.D. Howe and our parking monitor, Sgt. Paul Watts. They are usually here; but, sometimes they are off, so service would not be available. As I understand, Capt. J.D. found out Sgt. Paul’s service vehicle was getting much older and thought he should do something about the situation. So, he went out and bought a newer and more advanced vehicle to help with Aleppo AAAA. Thank you fella’ s for this special service to the people.
Our on and off snow bird, Larry S. Jaffe, is back from Tampa with a dark tan. When he’s gone, he likes to text us that it is 85 degrees there. When he rides back and forth from Worcester with his teammate John Dotson, he has to tell him all about Tampa. I won’t tell you how that goes. Heard from Chief Emeritus Ken Howe that he is doing well and that he would be joining us at the reenlistment banquet. Winter is half over, and we are getting ready for the other half. Dear Lord, be with Chief Nepo and his men out there.
It takes a special person to be able to work in some of the weather we endure in New England; whether it is blazing hot in July and August or freezing cold with wind and snow in January and February. If you are a person who likes the outdoors in all kinds of weather, we can use you in our Unit. The obligation of being a member of the Provost is that you are expected to attend a minimum of 40% of all Tours of Duty. If this would fit you, please give us a call.
