Roger Metcalfe traveled to Palmers Cove Yacht in Salem, MA, on Saturday September 8, 2018. He was greeted by Beth Bryce our host for the day. Their usual hosts, Susan and Greg Taylor, were traveling around Alaska for a well-deserved Vacation.
The Aleppo Shriners are invited each year to pick up aluminum pull tabs at a special gathering of the members of Palmers Cove. Roger was welcomed by a large group who were ready to see which team collected the most tabs.
Team #1 was Beth Bryce and Team #2 was Fred’s way. They all collect tabs all year for this special day. Roger was the weigh master, the official scale was calibrated, the weigh-in began.
Beth’s team brought forth the first five lb. bag, then Fred’s team with a 13 pounder and back and fourth it went until their stash was exhausted. The totals were calculated and the results were announced, Beth’s team had a total of 135 pounds, and Fred”s team 128 pounds for a total of 263 pounds.
A collection of cash and checks was made which totaled $260.00. What a grand day for the Aleppo Shriners Children’s Transportation Fund.
Thank you Palmers Cove Yacht Club, your members and friends for what you do so well, and have fun doing it. We look forward to seeing you in 2019!
