Annual Installation of Officers at NSSC

Posted on June 9, 2021

On Saturday, February 6, 2021, the officers of the North Shore Shrine Club assembled for the annual installation of officers at Aleppo Shriners in Wilmington. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and state restrictions, the number of people involved was limited. The officers for 2021 were installed by Ill. Robert S. Johnson, Potentate, as follows: President, Gary Freedman; 1st Vice President, Howard ‘Flipz’ Hernandez; 2nd Vice President, Clifford A. Critch; Treasurer, David Fink; Asst. Treasurer, David Cross; Secretary, Ernest A. Pearlstein; Asst. Secretary, Ill. Gary D. Bartlett, PP, the officers were presented with their pocket jewels and nameplates.

At the monthly meeting of the club in April, it was announced that the Red Canning efforts in 2021 have already yielded a sum in excess of $62,000.00. A gratitude of thanks goes out to the Red Canning Coordinator, Noble Leon Golden and his faithful group of volunteers from the NSSC. It is recognized that our canning volunteers, in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, have remained faithful to their duties; without their efforts, the fundraising campaign would not be so strong. Their undying commitment represents countless hours of our volunteers’ time and energy at local supermarkets and other locations; meeting and greeting the public and spreading the word, love, and mission of Aleppo Shriners. If you are out and about on a weekend and see the Red Canning Volunteers; go and thank them for all they do for Aleppo and the Shriners; make them feel good and important for the work they are doing.

Noble Leon is always looking for able-bodied volunteers to lend a hand in the fund-raising efforts; the more help available, the more areas and times can be covered for this great cause. If you have time to volunteer for Leon, please give him a call. He would be more than happy to hear from you and give you an assignment for collecting. It is a reminder to all volunteers that, when out canning in the public as Shriners, they are to wear their fez as a representative of Aleppo Shriners and the NSSC.

The first public event for Aleppo Shriners is to be sponsored by the NSSC. This will be an “In-person and Online Auction” on Sunday, May 23, 2021, to be held in the Harvey J. Waugh Fez Room at Aleppo from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. The cost for this event will be $10.00 per person, and currently there is a limit of 100 persons in live attendance. Please reserve the date; more information is to follow. Details for the online portion will be provided at a later time (make sure you sign up to receive emails from Aleppo; go to AleppoShriners.com). Boxed refreshments will be available for those attending. It is encouraged that those attending are to bring a gift for the prize table, as we will have our regular drawing for the prizes. Also, if you have any items you would like to donate for the auction portion of the even,; please contact Gary Freedman. All donations will be greatly accepted.

Upcoming events for the NSSC being explored for 2021 is a family get together in September and a Christmas Party in December. More information will follow in Aleppo Shriners News. All NSSC and Aleppo members and their significant others are welcome to attend any Club function.

NSSC is always looking for new members; you can speak to any officer or member for more details. Please contact President Gary Freedman or Secretary Ernie Pearlstein for an application.
