The Aleppo Oktoberfest and Potentate Reception for Illustrious Bob Brown was held on Friday, September 30, 2022. All in attendance had a wonderful evening of fun and fellowship!
Aleppo Brew Club members worked long and hard to decorate the Fez Room the night before, and also served through the event and cleaned up afterward. In the weeks prior, the club met to brew and keg our very own beer for the party. We had various seasonal offerings on tap, including our award-winning Oktoberfest, a Festbier, and the Strawberry Blonde Triplets which was a huge crowd-pleaser. Illustrious Bob’s idea for root beer floats was a very popular one, using our very own hand-crafted root beer as well.
In addition to the Brew Club’s own seasonal offerings, we also had Spaten Oktoberfest and Virtue hard cider on tap, and two different non-alcoholic Oktoberfest beers available in cans. All the while Noble John manned the Fez Room bar, not to mention everything he did from setting up tables and chairs, cleaning up, etc. Thank you, John! Your efforts really help make every event a great success.
The food this year was a delicious series of traditional German selections prepared by Aleppo Shrine’s own Noble, Chef Jason. We received lots of compliments on the authentic flavors, variety, and timings of the food being served. Well done!
The Double Eagle Oktoberfest Band really set the mood for the evening with their wonderful music, complete with lyric books for some sing-a-longs. Everyone enjoyed the stumpf fiddle contest – we have some real experts among us, who knew? Those who stayed late enough (with the 50/50 drawing coming up, why wouldn’t you??) were privy to the stein carry and stein hoist contests, which really showed us who has a good grip on their glass. Congratulations to Noble Ron who won the 50/50 raffle!
All in all a fun night with families and friends, and we thank you all for your support.
