Illustrious Harlan L. Woods, Jr.
Illustrious Harlan L. Woods, Jr. Potentate of Aleppo Temple was created an Aleppo Shriner on January 27, 1996. Harlan was immediately introduced to the Degree team and became Director of the Ritualistic Degree team in 2005. One of Harlan’s accomplishments was taking all the Degree Team’s regalia to Santo Domingo to help the Santo Domingo Shrine Club perform the First Section Ritual for their newest Nobles in 2006. Harlan later joined the Aleppo Membership Committee and became aware of the need for a Blue Lodge at Aleppo. Illustrious Woods took on this challenge and spearheaded the project to form a new Blue Lodge on the Aleppo Temple property. In 2015, that goal became a reality when Grand Master Harvey J. Waugh presented a new charter to Harlan Woods, Worshipful Master of the newly formed Scimitar Lodge. For his many years of service in the Ritualistic Degree Team, Membership Team, and Aleppo Divan, Illustrious Sir Harlan L. Woods, Jr. Potentate of Aleppo Temple in 2018 surely deserves to receive the Robert Gardner Wilson, Jr. Medal for service above and beyond the call of duty.
Noble Robert L. Baker
Noble Robert L. Baker, Treasurer of Aleppo Temple was created an Aleppo Shriner on June 1, 1996. Noble Baker immediately joined the Aleppo Cycles Unit and was quickly elected as their Treasurer, a position he will probably hold for life. Noble Baker was active in the Cycle Unit Competition Unit and helped the Cycles Unit win countless trophies and awards at both Northeast Field Day Conventions and Imperial Sessions alike. Although still active, Noble Baker moved aside from the competition unit to give incentive to newer members. Noble Baker has served on the Board of Governors of Shriners Hospitals for Children–Boston since 2016 and was elected
Chairman of the Board of Governors in 2018. Most of us recall the difficult year it was with Imperial announcing closures to be made at some hospitals including Boston. Bob was instrumental in changing the minds of many and introduced 3 different pieces of legislation at the 2018 Imperial Session. Because of Bob’s efforts and others, closing of our Boston hospital was averted and a plan to internally restructure the hospital and Shriners Hospitals for Children–Boston will remain in place. For his many years of service in the Aleppo Cycle Unit, Boston Board of Governors, and Aleppo Divan, it is most appropriate to present to Noble Robert L. Baker the highest award in Aleppo Temple, the Robert Gardner Wilson, Jr. Medal for service above and beyond the call of duty.
